No appointment is necessary for our COVID-19 test. When you come to Palm Care Pharmacy, you can avoid the long lines. Simply drive up to our pharmacy and call to let us know you are outside. Our trained medical assistants will perform the quick swab and give you your results in 15 minutes. At Palm Care Pharmacy, COVID-19 testing is free with insurance.
3 Different Types of COVID-19 Testing
Our full-service community pharmacy offers three different types of COVID-19 testing:
#1: Antigen Rapid Test
Our rapid COVID-19 test gives you results in 15 minutes. This is an antigen test. Our trained medical assistants perform a nasal or throat swab to detect a protein that is part of coronavirus. The test identifies a person who is at peak or near peak infection. Positive antigen test results are highly accurate. However, a negative antigen test result may require a confirmation from a molecular PCR test to verify accuracy. Your health care provider may order a molecular test to confirm the results of the antigen test.
#2: Molecular/PCR test
The molecular test, also called the polymerase chain reaction (PCR) test, detects the virus’s genetic material—RNA—through a nasal or throat swab. This highly accurate test diagnoses active coronavirus infections. The results require longer than the rapid antigen test, but our pharmacy can typically provide same-day results.
#3: Antibody Test
Our antibody test requires a blood sample to look for specific antibodies produced by the immune system to fight COVID-19. The antibody test can diagnose active coronavirus infection, determine if an individual has been infected by coronavirus in the past, or prove that someone does not currently have COVID-19. In many cases, our pharmacy can provide COVID-19 antibody test results on the same day.
